If you woke today in a cold sweat and wondered frantically, ‘Where on earth am I going to find a black and white picture of a panda in a fez today!’ – and I know I did- then The Discovery has you covered. It’s one of several arty shots in the elegant but homely dining Read More
Abo Ali is one of the larger Lebanese grill houses on City Road. With framed pictures of the Kaaba and pyramids and camels, it’s no surprise to see there is no alcohol on sale, but there are plenty of fresh juices: my lemon and mint is tartly refreshing on a warm evening, although our three year Read More
Yesterday, Monday 29th August, Wales Online published excerpts from my response to Jay Rayner’s criticisms of Cardiff’s eating out scene. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/lifestyle/food-drink/weve-fantastic-food-here-heres-11814779 Picture: Eat Me Daily Here’s my original piece. Dear Jay, I’m a fan. The first thing I do on a Sunday morning is to read your latest Observer piece. I’ve bought -and recommended- your Read More
I do enjoy a good food-related pun. Canton’s ‘The Codfather’ chippy. Karl’s Burgers, just off Ocean Way, and their nod to a certain Danish lager’s telltale font. And you’d have to have a heart of stone to ignore the brilliance of Bristolian mobile kebab outlet Jason Donervan. Which brings us to The Meating Place. This Read More

I won’t try to sell you any hand lotion, exercise programmes, coffee syrups or Patagonian nose flutes. You won’t find tips on dating, ‘wellness’ or yoga mats.
I write because I love it (and food, as indicated by my increasing girth). Greed happens to be my Deadly Sin of choice, but at least it is never shy of providing me with subject matter.
A simple thing, then: all you get is me wittering on semi-coherently about places I’ve eaten at; hence a ‘restaurant blog’ rather than a ‘food blog’, although there are a few recipes scattered throughout.
From mezze to Michelin ‘fine dining’ and all points in between.
